- Makes, investigates, and applies a variety of strategies to solve problems (B)
- Monitors and reflects on solutions (B)
- Develops and evaluates inferences and predictions that are based on data (B)
Communicates mathematical thinking coherently and clearly:
- Uses mathematical language to express ideas (B)
- Shows connections among mathematical ideas B)
- Creates and uses representations to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas (B)
Numbers and Operations:
- Counts orally 1 to 10 (D)
- Orally counts using 1 to 1 concept (D)
- Recognizes numerals 1 to 10 (B)
- Knows poems, finger plays, stories and songs that demonstrate one to one correspondence, counting numbers and sets (B)
- Compares groups of objects using most, least, and same (B)
- Counts with understanding and recognize “how many” in sets of objects (B)
Algebra:
- Sorts, classifies, &orders objects by color, shape size, number, or kind (B)
- Creates patterns using symbols and objects (B)
- Describes qualitative change, such as student’s growing taller (B)
Geometry:
- Names and identifies special position (B)
- Describes and names direction and distance (B)
- Understands vertical, horizontal, and diagonal (B)
- Recognizes and identifies geometric shapes in the environment (B)
Measurement:
- Measures with multiple copies of units of the same size, such as blocks laid end to end (B)
- Uses repetition of a single unit to measure something larger than the unit, for instance, measuring a line with a block (B)
- Uses preschool manipulatives to measure (B)
Data Analysis and Probability:
- Poses questions and gather data about themselves and their surroundings (B)
- Sorts and classifies objects according to their similar properties within that group (B)
- Represents data using concrete objects, pictures, and graphs (B)
- Describes the data results (B)
- Discusses events related to students’ experiences as likely or unlikely (B)
