Ms. Susan Dobel - 6th Grade Reading & English

I graduated in 2003 from Skutt Catholic High School.  I then attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City for a year, but missed home a lot and moved back to Omaha to attend Creighton University.  I graduated from Creighton in May of 2007 with a degree in Elementary Education.  I have spent this past school year substitute teaching while working on my Masters in reading at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

I did my student teaching and most of my practicum work in public schools. While it was a tremendous learning experience for me, it showed me that I do not want to separate my faith from my work.  A Catholic education is one of the greatest gifts I received from my parents.

The first time I walked into St. Patrick’s, everyone was so welcoming.  The positive atmosphere made me feel comfortable right away and it was clear to me that St. Patrick’s was the place for me.  I am excited to teach in a place with such a strong sense of community. I have coached basketball at Skutt Catholic for the past two years and have seen how a strong faith background influences all aspects of a student’s character.  I am excited about sharing my faith with the students and I look forward to getting to know them and their families throughout the year.

I grew up in Omaha and am the third of four children.  My parents still live in town so I get to see them often.

Ms. Lindsey Korth - 6th Grade Math & Social Studies

Mrs. Veronica Kretz - 6th Grade Math & Religion Teacher

I am so excited and blessed to be part of the staff at St. Patrick’s Catholic School as one of the 6th grade teachers.  I have lived in a variety of places, and have made Omaha my new home with my family.  My husband, Steve, and our children, Andrea and Justin are happy to be a part of the St. Patrick’s community.  We knew right away that St. Patrick’s was a great place during our first visit.  Everyone was very welcoming and we knew it was the perfect fit!

Although teaching was not my first career, it has definitely proven to be the right one for me.  I very much enjoy teaching children and seeing the “light bulbs” turn on.  Teaching, for me, is a passion and vocation.  I live that role each day at school, the community and at home teaching my own children. I graduated with a B.S. in Business Management from New York Institute of Technology.  I dove into the corporate world following graduation, and have worked for The National Basketball Association, Continental Airlines and Administaff.

In 2002, after my daughter was born, we moved to Wisconsin where I got the calling to become a teacher and I began working as a substitute.  I decided to pursue teaching professionally and enrolled in classes at local universities. In May, 2010, I graduated from The University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX with a Masters in Education. After two years of teaching at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in The Woodlands, TX, I became a 5th grade science teacher at Travis Intermediate in Conroe, Texas. I look forward to getting to know your children, the families and growing relationships with each of them.

Mrs. Tracy Fernandez - 6th Grade Teacher's Assistant

I am looking forward to becoming a member of the St. Patrick’s “family”.  My family has lived in the Elkhorn area for about two years now.  My husband Tom and I were both born and raised in Omaha and have lots of extended family here.  We have two teenagers, Marissa and Matthew.

I have been lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom for many years, working various part-time jobs. After many years of volunteering at my children’s Catholic grade school I began substituting for the teachers assistants.  I really enjoyed working with the kids at all grade levels and look forward to getting to know the children and families at St. Pat’s.  Everyone here has been so welcoming and I am excited about another great year.
