Our parish offers sacrament preparation in both a family setting and a peer/age group setting to families with children who are new to the Catholic Church, or have been away from the Catholic Church for an extended period of time. The children, depending on their age and grade level, may be placed in a sacrament specific class or in a religion class with their peers. In addition, children and their parents will attend monthly family gatherings. Family gatherings will include lessons on prayer, church seasons, the Liturgy, sacraments and will include time for parents to reflect on age-appropriate materials with their children. For these families, we will make every effort to assign them a companion family who will welcome their family into our parish and also invite their family to sit with them at Sunday Mass. As a way of sharing their Catholic faith with their "adopted family", they would also invite them to social and spiritual opportunities within our parish. This method of preparation applies to both children who attend our 5-day school or our parish Religious Formation program. Please call the Office of Religious Formation at 289-4947 to discuss how we can assist you with preparing your children for the sacraments. |
